Usually known as the "Auckland Vets"…..
We're a very personable group of "mature" (that's over 55) men from most Auckland golf clubs and a few from outside our area -- from as far as Mt Maunganui to Omaha Beach .
Regular Play
We get together around 25 times a year — on Mondays — to play at many of our favourite Auckland-area golf clubs:
Annual Competitions
Included in this schedule is a yearly contest against the Waikato Veterans at Waikare Golf Club and another against the North Harbour Veterans alternately at the Helensville or Grange Clubs.
Summer Tournament
In addition each January we put on our own very popular Auckland Veteran Golfers' four-day tournament which incorporates a number of events and trophies -- no one goes home empty-handed! Currently this event is played as two days each at The Grange and Remuera.
Organisation
The Society is run by an elected Committee comprising, President, Captain, Vice Captain, five committee members and a Secretary/Treasurer.
For our regular Monday games we have a charge of $15 or $20 per player depending upon the venue. ($10 for a member playing at his own club.) Two members of the Committee appear, as if by magic, at the scheduled club approximately one hour before the listed start time to take registrations and allot tee off slots. At the end of your round another Committee member is be there to look after cards and results. To assist us there is also a book on the results where all two's scored should be entered.
Joining
Our minimum joining age is now 55 years to accommodate those players who wish to play in National events, for which all entrants have to belong to an affiliated veterans organisation. If you are interested in joining us, just contact one of our committee members or download our membership form.
